Your privacy
How we look after the details you give us.
Who we are
The Fairfield Arms, 1 Fairfield Park Road, Bath BA1 6JN, is responsible for the personal details you give us through this website. If you have a question about them, email [email protected], call 07788 754733 or ask at the bar.
What we collect
- When you book a table: your name, phone number and email address, the date and time, how many of you are coming, and anything you tell us in the “Anything we should know?” box.
- When you get in touch or ask about private hire: your name, phone number and email address, what it’s about, your message, and the date if you give one.
- With each of those forms: whether you said yes or no to our news emails, and when you sent it.
- When you join our mailing list: your email address, the page you joined from, and when you joined.
We don’t use cookies to track you or for advertising.
What we use it for, and why we’re allowed to
- To take, confirm and manage your booking or private hire, and to talk to you about it. The law allows this because you’ve asked us to take these steps before you book with us (UK GDPR, Article 6(1)(b)).
- To answer your messages. Replying to people who get in touch is in our legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)).
- To send you the odd email about music nights, food and what’s on, unless you’ve said no. This is how it works when you book a table, ask about private hire, or get in touch about music and events. You’re asking about what we offer, so the law lets us email you about similar things unless you say no, and those forms have a box to tick if you’d rather we didn’t. This is the “soft opt-in” in the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, and telling our customers what’s on is in our legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)).
- To send the same emails to anyone who asks for them. If you get in touch about anything else, we email you only if you tick the box to join. You join our mailing list yourself by giving us your email address and pressing Join. Either way we email you because you’ve agreed to it (your consent, Article 6(1)(a)), and you can take that back at any time by unsubscribing.
Every news email we send has a link to unsubscribe, however you joined.
Who sees it
Only the people who run the pub. We never sell your details. Two services run our website and our email, so your details pass through them:
- Cloudflare hosts this website, receives the forms and keeps a copy of them.
- Google runs the pub’s email (Gmail), where the forms arrive.
They may handle data outside the UK. When they do, they protect it with the safeguards that UK data protection law requires. We would share your details with anyone else only if the law required us to.
How long we keep it
- Bookings: deleted within 12 months of your visit.
- Messages and private hire enquiries: deleted within 12 months of when you sent them, or of your event if that is later.
- Our news emails: if a form puts you on our list (you didn’t tick to say no, or you ticked to join), we keep your name and email address until you unsubscribe.
- Our mailing list: if you join it, we keep your email address until you unsubscribe. Then we take it off the list.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the details we hold about you, and ask us to correct them, delete them, or limit how we use them. You can object to how we use them, and you can tell us to stop sending you news emails at any time: every news email we send has an unsubscribe link, or just reply and say so. To use any of these rights, email [email protected]. We’ll answer within a month.
If you’re not happy
Please tell us first and we’ll try to put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
